Cleaning the washing machine, may not often factor into your household clean, but to keep it working to its best, we recommend you follow these easy steps every 2 to 3 months.
To Clean the Drum and Hoses
Add 2 spoonful’s of bicarbonate of soda into the drawer and ½ a cup of vinegar (white) into the drum. Once done run a normal hot wash, the bicarb and vinegar will wash away any grease and dirt both in the drum and the hoses.
When its running through its cycle, it’s advisable to keep an eye on it, as if you have a build-up of soap residue in the machine, as it cleans it can turn into bubbles! Regular clearing will reduce the chance of this happening.
To Clean the Seals
To keep the seals clean and mould free, wipe them over with a cloth soaked in equal parts of hot water and vinegar, this will clean and remove any lingering smells.
If following the above you are still left with unpleasant smells or mould residue, then its time to try adding 2 tablespoons of bleach into the drawer, and run the machine (empty) on the hottest setting. Repeat this step as many times as required.
To Clean the Drawer
To clean the drawer, which acts as a mould magnet, remove it from the machine and pop it in the top tray of your dishwasher, it will come out as new. If you don’t have a dishwasher, then soak it in a hot bowel of water along with a little bleach for an hour. After that you should be able to rinse it clean.
Don’t forget the Filter
Finally you should also take time to clean the filter (see the instruction manual) on a regular basis, as blocked filters are one of the main factors which cause problems with your machine.
